[2023] PUMA PALERMO | FOOTDISTRICT
The Puma Palermo established itself in the 1980s as a recognizable silhouette in soccer stadiums and terrace culture. Profoundly British, this subculture acquired its style references on trips around Europe following and cheering on their teams. Every acquisition outside the borders was a demonstration of style and much more. It was a public statement of their travels and a search for new references in cities all over Europe.
Undoubtedly, the name of the Italian town and the blue and white colors were attractive to add to the rubber sole, the T-Toe construction at the toe, the unmistakable label with gold details and the formstrip, the Puma logo, which is hidden behind pieces of suede and nylon.
Unlike other models of the time, the Palermo did not become popular as an icon of a generation and remained a sneaker that characterized its owner as a traveler in search of style, the Puma Palermo was a differentiating element.
